Inter-Professional-Compassionate pain management during endotracheal suctioning: a valuable lesson from a Chinese surgical intensive care unit

Abstract Objective To compare the effects of a pain management program and routine suctioning methods on level presence agitation in Chinese adults admitted to intensive care unit. disseminate results from implementation evidence-informed interventions for reducing during endotracheal tube (ETS) translate key finding clinical nursing practice. Methods A quasi-experimental study two-group post-test design was conducted after surgery surgical unit (SICU) Second Affiliated Hospital Kunming Medical University, Yunnan, China 2018. Fifty-two who met eligibility were included consent, 26 each group. Patients control group received usual while patients intervention reduce pain-related ETS. The impacts measured at 5 measuring time points using versions Critical-Care Pain Observation Tool (CPOT) Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS). Results statistically significantly decreased during, immediately after, min suctioning. Conclusions findings provide support positive pain-relieving ETS when compared with sufficiently effective safe maintain patent airway clean as standardized helps relief.
